About Me
“Born in Prague where she studied the harp and the Bohemian “hacken-harfe” with Jana Střížková. After completing her Master degree with full honors in Cultural studies from Charles University in Prague, she has dedicated herself to mastering early harps and in 2008 she relocated to Verona to further her studies with Loredana Gintoli at the F.E. Dall’Abaco Conservatory of Verona, where she graduated with honors in 2012. In 2016 she graduated also in baroque singing from “G. Briccialdi” Institute for Musical Studies in the class of Gloria Banditelli.
Her performing career includes both soloist and chamber music projects, as well as collaborations with several orchestras and ensembles specialized in a historically informed performance. She regularly performs as a singer-harpist with Quintana (duo founded in 2010 together with lute player Ilaria Fantin), In Cordis Ensemble, harpsichordist Monika Knoblochová, Anonima Frottolisti, and as a basso continuo player with La Folia Barockorchester, Collegium 1704, Cappella Mariana & Czech Ensemble Baroque.
She has taken part in many renowned music festivals including: Innsbruck Festival of Early Music, KKL Luzern, Klarafestival, Early music festival Jaroslaw, Wratislavia Cantans, Musica Credomatic (Costa Rica), Fundación J. March Madrid, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Rheingau Musik Festival, Uckermärkische Musikwochen, Summer Festivities of Early Music Prague, Femas Sevilla, De Bijloke Gent, Al Bustan Festival (Lebanon), Festival Radovljica, BaRoMus (Croatia), Teatro Olimpico di Vicenza, Bolzano Festival, Carpino Folk festival (Italy), Fora do lugar (Portugal)… As a harpist she accompanied famous singers such as Gloria Banditelli, Roberta Invernizzi, Regula Mühlemann, Hana Blažíková & Pino de Vittorio, Andreas Scholl & Anna Prohaska.
She has recorded various cds of early music for SONY, Tactus, Glossa, Supraphon, This Play Classic and Arta. Most recent releases have included Cleopatra Baroque Arias (Regula Mühlemann & La Folia Barockorchester) that have won prestigious Opus Klassik Award. Kateřina has also taken part in the project “Voci – Storie di donne, mistiche, visionarie” performed in duo with Patrizia Bovi and in a special concert for 450 years of Antegnati organ in Mantova during Gaude Beata Barbara festival in trio with Gloria Banditelli and Gabriele Catalucci. Currently she is playing in Henry Purcell’s opera Dido and Aeneas in the National Theatre of Brno (conductor Václav Luks). In addition to early music, Kateřina is devoted to an interesting research on traditional music of Mediterranean area and on Czech folk songs played on Bohemian harp. She also teaches and organizes seminars about historical and celtic harps.”
